Career Coaching

I offer coaching sessions for your professional and private life. Often, these two areas of your life are interrelated, but it might still make sense to focus on just one of the two areas first.

Whether you are facing redundancy or are keen to make a change of direction in your career, individual coaching equips you with the strategies that make job hunting more effective.

Career coaching cannot tell you what job is right for you, but it will give you guidance so that you can identify areas of work that are suitable for you, give yourself the best chance of securing an interview and prepare thoroughly for all aspects of the recruitment process.

it is important to approach the challenge of managing your career with a positive attitude and confidence in your abilities. We will work together to deal with any barriers you may be facing. Redundancy can involve a huge sense of loss (status, income, personal fulfilment) and not everyone can see it as an opportunity for change.

If you are ready for a change in your career, you may feel daunted by the application process. Many people are unsure about how to  identify their transferable skills and how to communicate their achievements, personal qualities and other strengths to an employer, whether in the form of a CV or during an interview.

“A good hands-on session. I have come away with the motivation to revise my CV!”

What Career Coaching can do

  • Clarify the type of work you will find enjoyable and rewarding
  • Determine how this fits in with your life as a whole
  • Research the job market and identify the organisations you wish to target
  • Explore areas of work you may not have considered before
  • Assess your skills and personal qualities and identify those areas you may need to develop
  • Ensure that your values match those of the organisations you are interested in
  • Consider whether self employment is right for you

Once you are clear about who you are and what you can offer, learn how to communicate this effectively to others, in application forms, letters, your CV, profiles and presentations.

In some job sectors up to 80% of vacancies are never advertised. You will need to use a range of job hunting stratiges to find the most relevant opportunities that exist for you. Networking skills are essential, but not part of a mysterious process!  Networking is simply getting to know people, and building long-lasting relationships where you help each other with issues relating to work and career.

An impressive CV will secure you an interview. We will ensure that your CV reflects you accurately and makes a positive impact.

Preparation is key to interview success and we will identify everything you can do before the day of the interview.  In addition you can lean how to deal  confidently with a range of questions and (if required) deliver a presentation that reflects your understanding of the organisation and the contribution you can make.

Simple stress management techniques will help you to approach your interview with a positive and calm attitude!

“Inspiring, realistic, optimistic, challenging and rewarding!”
